The Sunshine Coast Regional Tennis Centre project has received a $773,000 boost from the Regional Development Australia (RDA) Fund Round Four, announced today.
RDA Sunshine Coast Chair Prof Max Standage said the successful grant application would provide much needed infrastructure funds to develop the tennis centre into a premier sporting facility that could attract national and international events.
“This is a significant project which delivers on the key priorities outlined in the Sunshine Coast Regional Roadmap, providing long-term benefits to local businesses, tourism operators and the hospitality industry,” he said.
The Regional Tennis Centre is one component of Sunshine Coast Council’s Caloundra Central Park Sports Complex Master Plan. Stage one of the development includes a show court, eight hard courts, landscaping and parking facilities.
“RDA Sunshine Coast supports initiatives and partnerships that contribute to our region’s economic development through increased access to services and community engagement,” he said.
Round Four of the RDA Fund provided grants of between $500,000 and $15 million for priority regional infrastructure projects that also leveraged funding from the private sector, state and local governments.
The RDAF is worth almost $1 billion over five years and is designed to boost economic and community development as part of the Federal Government’s commitment to regional Australia.
