New road project eases congestion in Caloundra

Regional Development Australia Sunshine Coast is constantly advocating for better transport infrastructure in the region as one of our key pillars.
We applaud new measures undertaken by Sunshine Coast Council and the Queensland Government to improve traffic flow and access to the Caloundra and Golden Beach areas.
Motorists can now use the extension of Burke St to Pelican Waters Blvd, which gives the area a new east-west connection, aimed at providing better connectivity to those communities.
The project is expected to cater for more than 7000 vehicles per day by 2031 and is also forecast to reduce traffic volumes on sections of busy Caloundra Rd by up to 4000 vehicles per day by 2031.
Division 2 Councillor Tim Dwyer said the Burke St extension was a significant council project that would improve travel for Caloundra residents and visitors.
It also included a new sealed car park for the Caloundra District Indoor Bowls Association facility at Burke St. traffic motorists
