Sunshine Coast locals will be able to pick the brains of some the best entrepreneurs in the business at a unique mentoring event on October 5.

Mentor Blaze is a high energy, speed mentoring event where locals can explore their business ideas or challenges with a range of willing entrepreneurs and expert mentors – in the same place, at the same time.

The Sunshine Coast event will be held at the University of the Sunshine Coast Innovation Centre Auditorium at the Sippy Downs campus.

Mentor Blaze is targeted at startups, high growth ventures and spinoff opportunities for existing businesses.  It also allows new entrepreneurs to obtain direct and varied feedback on their startup idea from the Sunshine Coast’s experienced mentor network. This feedback will help them focus their idea, progress it or even dump it.  Mentors on the day will include founders who have exited, founders of growth stage startups, investors, experienced entrepreneurs, senior executives from global technology companies, professional service providers such as lawyers and accountants, and more.”

Over the course of the two-hour event, participants will sit down with up to three mentors of their choosing for short, focussed one-on-one sessions. They can also choose to Skype with mentors from other Mentor Blaze events being held simultaneously across Queensland.

Entrepreneur in Residence and event facilitator Dr Dean Alle said Mentor Blaze would provide a rare opportunity for aspiring entrepreneurs, students and businesspeople to speak with mentors with a broad range of expertise.

“Mentoring is really important to the entrepreneurial journey, because it allows you to learn from other people’s mistakes and experiences,” Dr Alle said.

“Mentor Blaze is unique because of the range of mentors on offer – you can sit down with a number of experts, all with different backgrounds and areas of expertise, which means you might get two or three fresh perspectives on a particular idea or challenge.

“It’s essentially speed dating for entrepreneurs.”

Mentor Blaze is Queensland’s premier startup mentoring event, with sessions held simultaneously in Brisbane, Toowoomba, Rockhampton, Mackay and Cairns.

Mentor Blaze Sunshine Coast will be held at the University of the Sunshine Coast Innovation Centre Auditorium at the Sippy Downs campus Wednesday October 5 from 3.45pm sharp. Mentoring runs from 4pm to 6pm, followed by networking.

Tickets are $15 and places are limited.
