First homeless men’s housing community gets $500,000 boost

Federal Member for Fairfax Ted O’Brien has announced $500,000 funding for what he’s calling the “Sunshine Coast’s first homeless men’s housing community” at Nambour.
The funding will be used to construct seven self-contained, purpose-built houses, forming a small community with an onsite caretaker.
Both the build and running of the shelter will be managed by Nambour’s The Shack Community Centre under the guidance of Pastor Dale Dowler.
The gated community will offer counselling and courses.
Mr O’Brien has long voiced the need for emergency housing for homeless men on the Sunshine Coast.
