Students sponsored to attend Smart Communities Summit

Six Sunshine Coast high school students were given a rare opportunity last week to hear from international and national thought leaders at the forefront of smart city technologies.

Sponsored by Regional Development Australia (RDA) Sunshine Coast, the students from Kawana Waters State College, Mountain Creek State High School, Caloundra State High School and Unity College attended the Australian Smart Communities Summit which explored new challenges for the administration of communities to bring about transformational change to the way they are managed.

More than 20 speakers from Germany, the United States and across Australia represented leading technology, telecommunications and infrastructure providers, as well as local government, universities and key research organisations.

technology and smart data in the development of smart communities.

“It was a great opportunity to introduce some of our youth to see how our future cities are being developed. We appreciated the time the students took from their study to be part of this event,” he said.
