What do you see as the biggest opportunities on the Sunshine Coast in the next two years?
While the infrastructure changes coming to the coast should offer plenty, I believe the biggest opportunities lay with the talent of our people. Cultural changes to how we work and the opening of a number of shared office environments, presents a real opportunity for a bridge to be developed between our under 30’s and over 50’s. Each group has much to offer the other. I believe that collaboration between these groups will foster many successful businesses, locally, nationally and internationally. We have the talent, it’s just a question of getting the opportunity to show it.
What made you want to join the RDA committee?
As we know sitting on the sidelines changes nothing. The RDA Sunshine Coast Committee presented an opportunity to work with our CEO to have a voice on the future of the coast and possibly to influence change. During my time as Chair I have been fortunate to have two good CEOs in firstly Russell Mason and then Darrell Edwards from February 2016. While we are a small voice on the coast, we are now seeing some ripples have positive effects for our community.
If you could change one thing about the Sunshine Coast what would it be?
Hearing the opinion of the majority rather than just the minority!
What’s the best advice you’ve ever been given?
If you want more money spend less.
