Grant sessions attract interest for regional projects

About 60 people attended three information sessions across the Sunshine Coast this week to hear about the Federal Government’s new National Stronger Regions Fund.

Hosted by Regional Development Australia (RDA) Sunshine Coast, the sessions outlined the types of projects being supported, guidelines for applicants and opportunities for local partnerships.

National Stronger Regions Fund session in NoosaRDA Sunshine Coast Chair Prof Max Standage said there was genuine interest from potential applicants across the region with several great projects presented for consideration.

“It was great to see that a number of projects put forward were well thought out and focused on priority infrastructure that would create real economic development opportunities for the region.”

The National Stronger Regions Fund targets regional projects that deliver priority economic development and small scale community infrastructure.

Round One of the Fund is now open and provides local community projects with between $20,000 and $10 million, covering up to 50 per cent of project costs. Applications close on 28 November.
