RDAs can help applicants prepare competitive applications for National Stronger Regions Fund

Regional Development Australia (RDA) representatives from across Queensland and Northern NSW met in Brisbane on 9 October for a one-day workshop to gain a better understanding of the requirements for seeking funding under the National Stronger Regions Fund (NSRF).

Two representatives from the Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development provided RDA CEOs with valuable information about how to explain and interpret the funding requirements to potential applicants, as well as identify the elements of strong project proposals against NSRF guidelines.

RDA Sunshine Coast CEO Estella Rodighiero said 99 percent of all successful projects funded in Round One of the NSRF had sought advice from their RDA.

She said RDAs could assist applicants to submit more competitive funding applications by providing support and deeper insight into the NSRF funding process.

“We will soon share this information through NSRF workshops across the Sunshine Coast to explain to potential applicants the type of project proposals sought, how to lodge an application, how assessments will be conducted, and dates for the next funding round.”

Gordon McCormick, General Manager, Regional Programmes, and Eve Cullen, Policy, Regional Programmes, Infrastructure Investment Division said the workshop provided RDAs with the opportunity to share their insights into issues and suggestions on how to continue to improve the funding programme to meet NSRF outcomes.

The NSRF will provide $1 billion in funding over five years for infrastructure projects in Australia’s regions. It supports a range of local and regional development initiatives ranging from transport projects to the development of sports and community facilities.
