Tourism future on the menu at end of year dinner

The Australian Institute of Company Directors will hold its 2012 End of Year Dinner in Mooloolaba on 25 October, featuring a keynote presentation by Andrew McEvoy, Managing Director of Tourism Australia.

Andrew will discuss the immediate and long-term trends of the Australian tourism sector and the steps being taken to revitalise this pivotal industry.

Key topics for discussion include:

• The future for tourism on the Sunshine Coast, in Queensland and Australia

• Managing the high $AUD

• Increasing demand in domestic tourism

• Maintaining interest of overseas visitors.

 

About Andrew McEvoy

Mr McEvoy returned to head Tourism Australia in January 2010, following almost three years as Chief Executive of the South Australian Tourism Commission (SATC).

He has more than 15 years of tourism specific marketing experience. Andrew began his career as a journalist with News Ltd before taking his understanding of the media and switching to tourism. His first role was with Tourism Victoria during the establishment of the highly successful domestic campaign – You’ll Love Every Piece of Victoria (1993) – which still runs today.

Andrew has also worked in regional tourism (Ballarat), for the Melbourne Convention Bureau and had a previous stint with Tourism Australia running its operations in the UK, Europe, the Americas and New Zealand.
