Tender workshop gives businesses a head start for hospital project

Local businesses can gain a head start with a training opportunity identified by the Sunshine Coast University Hospital Business Industry and Development Opportunities (SCUH BIDO) Taskforce.

The Tendering for Government Business workshop on 18 August will assist businesses with interpreting tender documents and prepare them for submitting complying tenders for the Kawana precinct hospital project.

Participants will learn about the State Government’s procurement policies and processes and how to respond to the standard terms and conditions contained in complex Government offer and tender documents.

Promoting training opportunities was one of three key areas identified by the SCUH BIDO Taskforce.

This workshop is an excellent starting point for businesses to gain the appropriate education and training in the lead up to the hospital project. Providing this information to the community is critical to ensure local businesses are fully aware of upcoming opportunities to get themselves on the front foot with this construction program.

The Taskforce’s three key areas are:

• To work with the Department of Employment, Economic Development and Innovation (DEEDI) to identify work packages and links for Sunshine Coast contractors and businesses.
• Work with local businesses to ensure they have the correct systems, training and experience to tender for the work. Local businesses will be offered training to ensure they can make complying tenders for the work as it becomes available.
• Ensure Sunshine Coast businesses optimise the economic benefits associated with a fully operational hospital and the community benefits from the hospital’s associated health and wellbeing outcomes.

This is the Investment Attraction area where a business recognises the opportunity that this hospital represents and expands their business to meet new demand. This also includes companies that relocate to the Coast to expand their business and create jobs for locals.
