Sunshine Coast Futures Conference generates ‘exciting’ ideas

About 200 representatives from the Sunshine Coast’s education, government, business and community sectors gathered at the Sunshine Coast Futures Conference last Friday to learn about where the region is heading discuss how to achieve the vision of being “the healthiest place on earth”.

Regional Development Australia Sunshine Coast CEO Estella Rodighiero, who participated in the strategic workshop discussions, said the conference provided an incredible opportunity to actively participate and have a say in the future directions for the Sunshine Coast.

“The energy in the room was amazing and the ideas generated were exciting. Having young people – our future leaders – contribute to workshop groups ensured that project discussions were inclusive,” she said.

The Futures Conference is now in its sixth year and is jointly organised by the University of the Sunshine Coast and Sunshine Coast Council. The event included international experts in regional development Ed Morrison and Dr Robert Greenwood. Generation Innovation also surveyed 1000 Coast youths in preparation for the conference.
