Do you know a project in your region or industry that deserves support? Individuals, community groups, councils and organisations can nominate how funds from the State Government’s Strong Choices should be invested for the future.
Speaking in Parliament last week, State Member for Maroochydore the Hon Fiona Simpson MP said the Strong Choices Investment Program included a proposed $100 million for cultural infrastructure and $500 million for projects with local government co-investment, which could be a possible source for an arts convention and entertainment centre for the Sunshine Coast.
She said the best way to sustainably fund such a project was for co-investment from Sunshine Coast Council, state and federal governments and the private sector, who were best placed to deliver an international five star hotel to complements the site.
“There is a great opportunity to seek funding for a properly scoped, rigorously planned arts convention and entertainment centre. I am keen to work with council on their road map to deliver this and would urge them to make it a high priority as part of a vibrant future for the Maroochydore CBD and the whole of the Sunshine Coast.”
The public can have their say about how they want the Strong Choices Investment Program funds spent by nominating key projects for the Sunshine Coast at www.strongchoices.qld.gov.au/investment-program.
