RDAMBSC launches ‘First Nations Export Readiness’ webinar series

Group at First Nations seminar event

RDA Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast (RDAMBSC) is pleased to announce an upcoming First Nations Export Readiness webinar series, set to kick off in July 2025.

This series is designed to empower First Nations businesses interested in exploring and engaging with international markets. Whether you’re already exporting, considering global trade, or simply curious about the possibilities, this program offers a comprehensive guide to building export readiness.

We are excited to be partnering with the Export Council of Australia (ECA), the peak industry body representing Australian exporters, to deliver this program. We are also working with Supply Nation to ensure the content is relevant and provides an opportunity for First Nations businesses to tell their stories.

About the webinar series

These webinars are designed to equip First Nations businesses with practical knowledge and strategies needed to navigate the global marketplace.

The program will consist of four online sessions, delivered by experienced trainers from the Export Council of Australia.  Sessions will be held fortnightly from Wednesday, July 16, 2025 and each 1.5-hour webinar will delve into key aspects of the export journey.

The interactive workshop format means you don’t just hear from the trainers, but get stories directly from other First Nations businesses undertaking a journey similar to your own.

What will be covered

The series covers a range of essential topics, designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of export readiness:

Webinar 1: Preparing your Business for Expansion

The initial session will focus on building a strong foundation before considering growth into new markets. It covers developing a robust business plan, exploring scaling strategies and operational efficiency, and building internal capability for future expansion

Webinar 2: Navigating the Export Landscape

Discover the key steps involved in expanding globally, from initial research to establishing ongoing trade relationships. This session provides a clear roadmap of the export journey, highlights practical insights from successful exporters, and introduces foundational understanding of logistics and contractual considerations.

Webinar 3: Conducting Market Research and Engaging Buyers

A practical session designed to help businesses identify suitable markets and customers. It explores techniques for effective market research, selecting markets aligned with products and values, and navigating cross-cultural business practices. Marketing and buyer engagement strategies are also outlined.

Webinar 4: Managing Financials and Assessing Risks

The final session focuses on financial preparation and risk management for entering overseas markets. Topics include building realistic budgets, pricing models, managing currency risk, exploring funding opportunities available to Indigenous businesses, and implementing risk management strategies.

A regional priority

Discussing the upcoming webinar series, CEO Jacki Steel emphasised RDAMBSC’s focus on empowering First Nations businesses, as well as the organisation’s commitment to addressing community needs.

“Driving success among First Nations entrepreneurs and business owners is a priority for the Moreton Bay and Sunshine Coast region,” she explained.

“Based on engagement and candid discussions with First Nations business owners and entrepreneurs right here in our community, we’ve identified a clear desire for dedicated support that offers practical knowledge and helps build networks with other Indigenous businesses.

“This webinar series has come about in response to that need, and we’re thrilled to partner with the Export Council of Australia to bring this program directly to our local businesses.”
