Leanne worked in the tourism industry until 2012 when she became manager of the Caloundra Chamber of Commerce. She loved her six years there and developed a great respect for the contribution that local Chambers make to the vitality of their local community.
Now retired, when Leanne’s not travelling, she’s volunteering and lending a hand wherever it’s needed. Leanne loves the positive, energetic vibe of the Sunshine Coast and intends to contribute to that for as long as she can – starting with her valued place on the RDA Sunshine Coast Committee.
Q: What do you see as the biggest opportunities on the Sunshine Coast in the next two years?
Expansion of the Sunshine Coast Airport and new private sector investment in the region.
Q: What made you want to join the RDA Committee?
To improve the alignment of organisations across the region.
Q: If you could change one thing about the Sunshine Coast what would it be?
I’d work to improve the lack of parking in the region.
Q: What is the best advice you have ever been given?
Go hard or go home.
Q: What’s the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn’t learn from your résumé alone?
I love glamping. We’ve been camping for decades but more recently went the whole hog and upgraded to a caravan. Our luxury hotel suite on wheels is just perfect for continuing our travel affair.
Q: What’s your favourite place on the Coast to spend your weekend?
Buderim – love that we can walk into the village from home or it’s just minutes to anywhere.
Any famous last words?
Just one. My favourite word at the moment is alignment. When we align that’s when the sparks fly and the magic will happen.
