After five months in the making, the new $2 million Mooloolaba Boardwalk was unveiled on December 10.
Gone is the 20-year-old timber boardwalk, with a 3.4m-wide, long-lasting and organic-styled pathway made with aluminium and stainless steel in its place, expected to last 50 years.
The upgrade also includes new lighting, improved beach access points, seating and viewing platforms and up to 10,000 native plants to re-vegetate the land.
Located east of the Mooloolaba Beach Holiday Park, the upgraded boardwalk provides improved access along the route to Mooloolaba Spit.
The boardwalk renewal was a joint initiative of Sunshine Coast Council and the Queensland Government through the Local Government Grants and Subsidies Program.
The boardwalk opening follows last week’s official unveiling of the new $5.15 million Mooloolaba Walk and Ride Bridge.
