The final of the 10 tower cranes has been decommissioned from the Main Hospital Building (MHB) at the Sunshine Coast University Hospital (SCUH).
Substantial completion of the MHB’s internal fit-out (ceilings, internal walls, floor finishes and painting) is due in April, according to Lendlease’s latest SCUH Construction Update.
It also includes the installation of services such as general power outlets and data points. There are more than 38,000 data outlets and about 250,000 metres of data cabling throughout the facility.
Tiling and ceilings in the MHB’s ‘hospital street’ will be finished by the end of April, along with the glazing in the Outdoor Room. In April, the first pieces of major medical equipment – the Linear Accelerators – will be delivered to the SCUH site. Testing of the smaller medical equipment such as medical gases, etc is already underway in the
Clinical Investigation Unit on Level 2.

Commissioning is now underway, with the building entering full commissioning mode by April. Between 5,000 and 20,000 of individual tests are required to commission the facility prior to any operational commissioning by the Sunshine Coast Hospital and
Health Service.
The SCUH will open with approximately 450 beds in April 2017 with the remaining capacity expected to be commissioned by 2020/21, which will see all 738 beds utilised.
