New business assistance initiatives

Two new initiatives have been launched to help break down the barriers to business success and support Australian businesses to become more competitive and grow.

The Single Business Service comprises a consolidated online presence accessible anytime and anywhere (business.gov.au), contact centre support (Ph: 13 28 36) and an expert face-to-face business facilitation network (AusIndustry). Support includes:

  • Information for businesses that is easy to find and understand
  • Tailored advice for businesses when they choose to access it
  • Direct links to Australian Government programs and services, including new measures such as the Entrepreneurs’ Infrastructure Programme, Industry Skills Fund, Industry Growth Funds and Manufacturing Transition Programme.

The Entrepreneurs’ Infrastructure Programme offers advice, assistance and tailored support to businesses through three streams:

  • Business management
  • Research connections
  • Commercialising ideas.

Some services can be accessed by all Australian businesses. Eligibility criteria apply for more targeted support. The program has a phased delivery, with business evaluations and related grants through the Business Management stream starting 1 July.
