2019 Vinnies Community Sleepout Sunshine Coast raises $80K

As the sun came up on Maroochydore beach this morning, after a highly successful 2019 Vinnies Community Sleepout Sunshine Coast at the Maroochy Surf Club, spare a thought for the homeless.
More than 1600 people sleep rough on the Sunshine Coast; for them, there is no out – no going home to a warm bed and meal.
Regional Development Australia Sunshine Coast (RDASC) CEO Paul Fisher and Committee member Teressa Schmidt were part of the 139-strong local business sector who slept rough in last night’s 2019 Vinnies Community Sleepout Sunshine Coast.
Paul was on the Sunshine Coast Business Council Team (SCBC) who took part in the event to raise funds towards Vinnies’ ultimate fundraising goal of $150,000.
He raised an impressive $925 in a bid to highlight why homelessness is a growing problem in our community – well surpassing his fundraising goal of $500.
Vinnies raised a total of $80,000 on the night, which will go directly towards housing, feeding and assisting homeless people across the Coast, so every donation made a difference.
“This important charity event was about raising vital funds to support people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness,” Paul said.
“I’d like to send a big thank you to everyone who has so generously supported me on my fundraising journey.”
