Maxine McKew to visit Maroochydore

The Regional Development Australia Sunshine Coast Chair welcomed the Hon. Maxine McKew, MP, member for Bennelong and Parliamentary Secretary for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government to the Sunshine Coast.

Federal Member for Bennelong Maxine McKew will visit the Sunshine Coast on May 21 to launch Regional Development Australia Sunshine Coast (RDASC). Ms McKew will address an invitation only lunch at Ebb restaurant in Duporth Avenue, Maroochydore.

Representatives from all levels of government, small and large businesses and community groups will attend the lunch.

Regional Development Australia Sunshine Coast (RDASC) is part of a national network of 55 RDA committees aiming to strengthen and build regional communities. The RDASC Chair said the Committee would focus on the economic, social and environmental issues affecting the Sunshine Coast region.

RDA Sunshine Coast will contribute to and drive job creation, skills and business investment in the Coast region and seek solutions to environmental issues affecting all residents.

“What’s unique about the RDASC is that it is a not-for-profit community-based organisation led by volunteers from a diverse cross-section of our society,” the Chair said.

“Our committee represents community, business and local government interests, and because it consults with the community and cuts across all three tiers of government it is uniquely placed to create a cooperative and inclusive approach to address local challenges and priorities.

“Among the important issues we’ll be looking at are job creation, population growth and the projected effects of climate change.”

The 55 RDAs spread across Australia will come under the jurisdiction of Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government, Anthony Albanese.
